N2 (Upper-Intermediate Level)

N2 is the level most employers and universities in Japan require. It involves around 6,000 vocabulary words, 1,000 kanji, and mastery of advanced grammar. You’ll use keigo more naturally, understand differences between formal and informal expressions, and interpret implied meanings. The listening section includes business conversations, lectures, and everyday discussions at natural speed. Reading includes news articles, essays, instruction manuals, and opinion pieces. Successfully passing N2 means you can study or work in Japanese-speaking environments, follow the news, and participate in advanced conversations.
